Universalia has been working on a research paper meant to understand whether or not the “business model” concept is applicable to non-for-profit organizations, and more particularly to research institutions in developing countries. Can we apply private sector knowledge and terminology to non-for-profit organizations? The Progressive Technology Project (PTP) has developed an ambitious set of programs to strengthen and meet the divergent needs of diverse grassroots community-led organizing groups using technology to advance their efforts.  To that end, PTP developed an self-assessment tool that will help organizations think about what they do and how technology can support their work.
