Universalia has been working on a research paper meant to understand whether or not the “business model” concept is applicable to non-for-profit organizations, and more particularly to research institutions in developing countries. Can we apply private sector knowledge and terminology to non-for-profit organizations? If so, how useful could it be for these organizations to remain relevant, attract more resources and be sustainable?
The Progressive Technology Project (PTP) has developed an ambitious set of programs to strengthen and meet the divergent needs of diverse grassroots community-led organizing groups using technology to advance their efforts. To that end, PTP developed an self-assessment tool that will help organizations think about what they do and how technology can support their work.
