Discussion 6 - Your Experience in Evaluating Gender Equality

Topic to be discussed from Monday February 15 to Friday April 9, 2010 (still opened)

Introduction to topic:

Among the international development community, gender equality is increasingly considered as crucial, both as a means to and an outcome of development. As a consequence, over the past years, there has been a significant increase in the proportion of our evaluation work related to gender issues. Many of the evaluations either contain a gender component, as a cross-cutting issue, or focus on gender equality as the primary theme of the evaluation. Yet the tools available to conduct evaluations of this "dimension" and the understanding around gender equality (from the client's and evaluator's side) are not always appropriate
and often show some weaknesses.

Topic Question:

What impact has the integration of gender equality considerations had into your work? If you are an evaluator, what has been your experience in conducting gender equality evaluations?

We would like to invite your comments on this question.  Please read the Instructions beside before posting your ideas and questions.
